Quarantine & Disposal Procedure

Quarantine & Disposal Procedure

Overview

In this guide, we will explain to you what quarantine stock is and how this should be managed to avoid unnecessary charges

What is Quarantine?

Quarantine stock refers to a portion of a company's inventory, that has been separated and placed in a designated quarantine area due to concerns about its quality, safety or compliance with regulations.

How do GEE determine if inventory needs to be quarantined?

When goods are received into the warehouse, either as part of an ASN, or as a return, the Warehouse Team will carry out a quality check to determine whether the stock is in a sellable condition. This will include checking packing for any damage. If damage is found, the stock will be deemed

What happens when my products are in quarantine?

During the period that you have any stock in a quarantine location, this will be charged at double storage costs, in line with Storage Costs which are available to view on our rate card:
To avoid unnecessary double storage fees from being charged, we would recommend close management of your quarantine stock to ensure that stock held within quarantine is regularly reviewed and you are in contact with the 3PL Team to discuss how you wish to proceed with the stock held within these locations.

How do I know what products are in quarantine?

Your Product In Location Report will provide a detailed break-down of all of the products held within the Warehouse facility(ies), including anything you currently have within Quarantine. You are able to use this report to manage any quarantine stock you have and let us know how you wish to proceed, to get this stock moved from these location(s) as quickly as possible.
If you do not receive a copy of the PIL Report, please reach out and your dedicated CSR will be happy to work with you to get this set up!

What should I do with my quarantine stock?

We will need to know how to proceed with quarantine stock as quickly as possible, to avoid unnecessary double storage fees from being incurred. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to manage your quarantine stock so please ensure that you are checking your PIL report frequently and are getting in touch with your dedicated CSR to advise what you would like doing with this stock and they will be able to work with you on this.

For any action required for quarantine stock, an order must be placed within the OMS for the Team to action this. This is the case should you wish for stock to be returned to you, or also if you wish for the stock to be disposed of. Please get in touch with your CSR to place this order, as we will need to ensure that correct quarantine products are added to the order for you.

Please Note: Should you wish to dispose of the products in quarantine, this is something we are able to do however there will be a £100 disposal fee applied. As a business, we have an environmental responsibility and as part of our 40001 ISO accreditation, should be working to minimise the waste and disposal we are producing, in this instance, on behalf of our clients. This disposal fee combines a £25 admin fee and £75 environmental fee, which ensures that we are disposing of the waste effectively and recycling wherever possible.

What happens if we do not get in touch regarding stock we have in a quarantine location?

As per our internal process, if we have not received any notification from you within 3 months from the date of the SKU(s) being quarantined, these will be automatically disposed of, which will be a chargeable service.
