Cosmetics: Must-Haves Checklist

Overview, 

In this guide, we will outline the must-haves and provide a checklist, that will allow us to successfully assess your cosmetic product(s) 

Cosmetic Registration Process


Step 1 - Formula check and CPSR-A

  1. Composition in trade names
  2. Exact percentages of each raw material
  3. Name of each raw material supplier
  4. Function of the raw material AND
  5. Raw materials’ documentation, including:
    - MSDS (Safety Data Sheet) 
    - CofA (Certificate of Analysis)
    - Non-animal testing statement 
    - For fragrances, natural extracts, oils: Allergen report and IFRA statement 

Step 2 - CPSR-B

Finished Product reports, including:
  1. 3-month accelerated Stability/Compatibility Study
  2. Preservative Efficacy Test (also called Challenge Test) – some products might be exempt
  3. Certificate of Analysis of the finished Product (or TDS – Technical Data Sheet or Specifications)
  4. For products with a SPF: UVA/UVB Efficacy tests
  5. GMP certificate
  6. Method of manufacture
  7. Non-animal testing statement of the finished product
  8. Packaging information and technical drawings
  9. Undesirable effect statement (if the product is already sold) 

Step 3 - Label Check

  1. Label Artworks (all sizes) 

Step 4 - Portal Notification

  1. Revised and Final artworks (all sizes) according to our experts’ label report 
Please Note: The above list only includes the must-haves for Expandly to be able to assess your product. Depending on the nature of your product and its raw materials, additional documents may be requested by the expert to perform the complete safety assessment.
